We are an ethical social enterprise working exclusively for the third sector, arts and culture and public sectors.
We set up Dovetail because the kinds of projects and people we like to work with want professional expertise at a price they can afford, and in a way that suits them.
More about usWe believe relationships matter most. Because we are never hit and run, our clients benefit from collaborations with some of the most talented, well placed and creative people and organisations in the North West.

The way we work means that for our clients a little investment goes a long way.
Experience tells us that you won't necessarily have a large budget, but what you do have is a wealth of potential within your organisation, just waiting to be tapped. We work with you to realise this - to help you attract new clients, partners and funders, to motivate staff and volunteers, to inspire stakeholders, as well as alerting the public to what you are doing and what you want to achieve.
We don’t start by talking budgets with you. If you have a serious ambition for your project we can offer a free ‘surgery’ to find out what you do and where you think you want to be, the challenges you face and how your work benefits others. We can work with you to build a tailor-made package of support that makes the most of your assets and brings the best value to what your organisation is doing.
In today’s difficult climate, the Dovetail Difference may just give you the edge you need to survive and thrive.
Our work is not a cost, it’s an investment.
Julia started out as a BBC producer on Radios 2 and 4, and went on to write for a number of publications including The Guardian, The Independent, The New Statesman and numerous local papers and magazines. For some years she was a regular contributor to The Big Issue and the Manchester Evening News, and has worked with various TV programmes including regional and local news. She retains many of her cross-media contacts, and continues to work on a weekly programme for BBC Radio Manchester.
She went into PR and organisational development 15 years ago and has worked in several local authority press offices/comms teams, and on a number of regeneration projects. She particularly enjoys working with arts organisations and projects involved with social change. She is co-founder of Mish Mash cabaret, which gives a platform to unusual and unlikely talent.
Frankie has a background in publishing, regeneration and arts/culture. She has extensive experience in developing and managing a variety of projects specialising in social regeneration and culture including North City Live and Give it a Go: The £5k Challenge, a flagship social enterprise development project for Lancashire. She was project manager for Revealing Histories: Remembering Slavery and also delivers strategic marketing and communications leading the public engagement side of Dig Manchester, Manchester’s hugely successful community archaeology dig for five years and managing the PR for Cohesion Live. She is highly experienced in development work with third sector organisations, undertaking a major perception and operational review for Addiction Dependancy Solutions.
Frankie is a Trustee of Venture Arts, an arts organisation working with people with learning disabilities. She also sits on the Leadership Group of RAPAR (Refugee and Asylum Seekers Participatory Action Research).
