We work with the very best photographers, bringing quality and vision to our projects. These outstanding portraits brought in major partners, received extensive exposure, and gave hundreds of children a voice.
Snapshot 212 started life as a series of pictures of children from the BlueZone education department at Manchester City FC, working with photographer Paul Cliff , with funding from Manchester Children's Fund (MCF). This was tied in with a project about the children's wishes for a better world, and soon the project team had the beginnings of an exhibition. We were staging Culturemarket at the time, and this was Snapshot's first showing.
Snapshot was a great interactive potential for gathering further wishes and comments. We secured the large foyer area in Urbis for a summer long exhibition. Snapshot 212 went on to be staged at other venues including Wythenshawe Forum, Manchester City FC Museum, and G-Mex (now Manchester Central). The exhibition spawned a variety of projects taken forward by Paul Cliff - Kosova Snapshot and Refugee Week Snapshot - and gathered wishes from thousands of Manchester’s children. These were analysed and played an integral part in the development of Manchester City Council's Every Child Matters strategy for children that aimed to promote positive images and voices for children. This led to real results and tangible benefits for local children.
Snapshot 212 was supported by Manchester City and personally endorsed by then club captain Richard Dunne, who officially opened the Urbis exhibition.
The ‘Snapshot’ project has to date gathered over 2000 wishes and images, and most recently was used to highlight the ongoing plight of children in care in Bulgaria and the work that is being done by the Centre for Inclusive Education. To find out more visit www.cie-bg.eu.
